The Nevada Rancher was purchased by Winnemucca Publishing after the unfortunate passing of its creator and original owner Gwen Carter.  Now it is in the hands of a new editor Trina Kleintjes-Hathaway. She has great ideas to make the Nevada Rancher a publication that no rancher should be without. Along with the columnists that readers have come to love we are hoping to bring in some new features that will be informative and fun.  One project that Trina will be starting is a feature on one ranching family a month. This feature can be written by Trina or a family member.  This will consist of a history of the family and how they got to Nevada, Idaho, California, Colorado or where ever their ranch may be. Also old family photos will be encouraged. It will include where their operation is at now and where they see it going in the future.  Begining with the April 2008 edition there will be features offered every month on the topic of eco-ranching. This will cover solar, geothermal and wind power to name a few. This feature will provide information that any rancher who is looking into the possibility of being self sustained will need to start their research and journey into becoming more environmentaly friendly and sound.  Any other ideas information and comments are welcome.
